Studio & seeks models for sketches

Studio & is seeking models for a new drawing series, Summer Sketchuality.

The event will host live models for sketching at the Lost Dog Bar & Grill from 6 to 7 p.m. on July 3, Aug. 7 and Sept. 4. Models will get $5 for every artist who attends, with a minimum of $35 guaranteed. Models are encouraged to wear fun clothes or costumes.

Yazzie exhibit opens with artist reception

A photo exhibit by Venaya Yazzie will open Thursday with an artist reception and talk from 4-6 p.m. in the Delaney Research Library at the Center of Southwest Studies, 1000 Rim Dr.

The exhibit, “nomad bahané: photographs of the trek,” documents the 21st century migration of a Navajo/Hopi nomad woman.

Yazzie, an artist who travels within the borders of many Native American reservations in the Four Corners, will give a talk during the reception.

Sussex will speak at photo club meeting

The Durango Photography Club will hold its monthly meeting from 7 to 9 p.m. Thursday in the banquet room at the Holiday Inn & Suites, 21636 U.S. Highway 160 west.

The meeting will feature a presentation by Durango photographer Deb Sussex called “Success with Imperfection.” Members will also share their themed photographs during the Monthly Challenge section of the meeting.
