BHS girls' basketball holding camps

Adams State University, Fort Lewis College, Colorado Mesa U., CSU-Pueblo..

Summer basketball camps hosted by institutions such as these require one thing even more important than players willing to sacrifice vacation time in the name of improvement: travel.

Two skill-set-specific clinics upcoming in Bayfield will offer up-and-coming cagers-specifically, those girls and guys (!) in grades 1 through 8-yet another chance to hone their craft while saving their chauffeurs a couple clams' worth of gasoline.

BHS Girls' Basketball Head Coach Bri Simbeck, along with assistants Cathy Simbeck and Marti Toledo and Lady Wolverines present and past, has the dates of July 12 and July 19 marked for, respectively, in-depth offensive and defensive instruction.

Each event will officially begin at 9 a.m. and end at 4 p.m., with BHS Gymnasium opening half an hour before the start and closing half an hour after the conclusion.

Campers will receive an event shirt and ball, and additional prizes will be awarded during the proceedings. Fees run $50 for a single-day soloist, $70 for a second child from the same family, or $90 for a 'walk-on' (as in July 12, between 8:15 and 9:00 a.m.) registrant, with a $5 discount offered for all registrations received by July 1.

Forms and payments (checks to be made out to Bayfield Girls' Basketball) should be mailed to Coach Bri Simbeck, 2720 Mesa Avenue, Durango, CO 81301, and more clarification/information can be obtained by e-mailing bsimbeck@bayfield.k12.co.us or calling 884-9521(x3040) or 903-8391.
