The news stories regarding the “decreased amount of average tax refunds” do not reflect the fact that the federal tax withholding from each and every paycheck in 2018 went down.
The average net pay check actually increased every pay period because less federal tax was withheld.
This kind of incomplete investigating and reporting is one of the reasons that people think that lots of news is fake!
