Conservation district to address forest health, noxious weeds Thursday

The La Plata Conservation District invites the public to attend an information-sharing session from 3 to 6 p.m. Thursday in the Pine Room at the La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave.

Two topics will be presented: forest health and noxious weed management. Dan West, Colorado State Forest Service entomologist, will discuss beetle infestations in state forests, Rod Cook, retired La Plata County weed manager, will discuss soil disturbance and weed management.

Other experts in their fields will be available after the presentations for one-on-one consultation. The public is encouraged to bring samples or pictures for identification by forestry and weed experts.
