Auction relieves cabin fever

Heritage Society celebrates start of spring with annual event

The Pine River Valley Heritage Society had its annual Cabin Fever Reliever on Saturday, with soup, chili, entertainment by Joel Racheff, and a successful pie auction.

The Semler family provided the chili, and Bryce and Jamie Simpson donated the beef for the chili.

An opening auction bid of $110 got the bidder his choice of all the 55 pies and cakes in the auction. La Plata County Fair Royalty displayed the pies for bidding.

Proceeds are used to operate the Heritage Society musuem on the corner of Mill and Church streets in downtown Bayfield. The musuem is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday thanks to volunteers. Admission is free, but donations are appreciated. The event was held at Bayfield Church of Christ.
