Penalties plague Bayfield Wolverines in Brush

Reporting from the 107.1 broadcast from Brush by Dave Bray:

David Hawkins started the second quarter with a 20-plus yard run.

Hawkins gets in the endzone, but a holding call against Bayfield brings it back to the 13 yard line.

McCoy passed it to Heydinger, but it was called incomplete, third down and three to go.

Zane rushes it almost for the fourth down, then fumbles it on the 11 yardline.

Beetdiggers take it over, Wolverines get an unsportsmanlike conduct call, moving the ball from the 11 yardline to the 17. Come on guys, we're getting too many calls today.

Clay Shaver, one of the stars of the Brush team, has an injury and hobbled slowly off the field.

Beetdiggers get a first down, making it to their 33 yardline. Brush runner makes it to the Wolverines 49 yardline.

They make it down to the 32, 4th down and 6, Bayfield's Phelps tips a pass, but it goes to a Beetdigger for a touchdown.

After a kickoff to the Wolverines, Brody McGhehey runs it back.

Hunter Killough catches a pass and gets inside Beetdigger territory on their 40th.

Bayfield runs it 10 for another first down. McCoy gets sacked for a loss of yards.

Zane Phelps runs it to the 25 for a first down.

McCoy passed to Wyatt Freier on the 7 yardline for another first down and it's first down and goal.

McCoy was sacked again and goes back two yards.

Phelps runs it in for a touchdown! The kick is good, it's 14-14.

Very end of the quarter, the Beetdiggers were on the BHS 36 yardline with eight seconds left. Brush fumbled, Bayfield recovered the ball with just 1.7 seconds left.

Bayfield kneeled to finish the first half.
