Lecture to examine American millennials
Former broadcaster Bob Griffith will give a multi-media presentation about the values, attitudes and behaviors of the millennial generation on Friday in Durango.
“A Snapshot ... The American Millennial Generation” will take place at 6:30 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Durango, 419 San Juan Drive.
In his presentation, Griffith will examine the perspectives and world view of millennials in the context of issues like politics, economics, education, technology and employment. Millennials belong to a generation born in the late 20th century, from roughly 1982 to the early 2000s.
Griffith is a Durango resident who comes from a broadcasting career in Los Angeles. He has worked in management positions and as a performer for companies like Viacom, Metromedia, Cox Communications, ABC and Google.
Deadline for exhibit submissions is Feb. 1
Organizers of “People’s Choice,” a juried art show coming to Farmington this spring, are accepting submissions through Feb. 1.
Submissions will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis, and the entry fee is $25.
The show, which is sponsored by the Farmington Downtown Association and Three Rivers Art Center, will merge Four Corners artists with Farmington businesses and the public. It will culminate during the April 10 Downtown Art Walk, where the public will be able to vote on their favorite piece. Winners will receive cash awards of up to $1,000, and a juried award of $500 has been added to the event. Farmington artist Mary Beth Yates will select that winner.

Studio & welcomes new member artist
Durango monoprint artist Maureen May is the newest member artist at Studio &, a cooperative art gallery and studio downtown.
May first studied art at the American Academy of Art in Chicago and, several years ago, learned Michael Coffee’s “reductive ink” method of printmaking, which she continues to pursue avidly today.
May has exhibited throughout the United States; her work is currently on display in a solo show, “The Long and Short of It: An Exhibit of Recent Works,” at the Henderson Fine Arts Center Gallery in Farmington.
