Marcos Wisner is perfect for council

After listening to the candidates for City Council, one person stood out to me as having unique qualifications for this important position.

I’m voting for Marcos Wisner for the following reasons: Marcos was born and raised in Durango and has the unique perspective of knowing how Durango has changed over the past 30 years that he has lived here. He has witnessed many changes in our small town which include the positive (completing sections of the river trail, building the rec center, improving fairgrounds and having a new library) and the negative, such as increased traffic congestion and the rise in real estate prices making it difficult for young people to live here.

Marcos is a successful entrepreneur, opening a vibrant and unique business with his dad (11th Street Station), and understands the complexity of the city rules and regulations that are required for business owners in Durango. His experience and knowledge would be a great asset to the Durango business district.

Marcos stated that he is most interested in helping the residents of Durango who already live here, where the other candidates talked about wanting to encourage more people to move to our town.

I personally don’t want Durango to turn into a mini-Boulder. He understands the obstacles that face young people who are born in Durango and want to live and work here as adults.

Marcos would be a great asset to the Durango City Council and I encourage you to give him your vote.
