It takes a deplorable to see deplorable

In response to John Flautt (“Cartoon Trump as devil was deplorable,” Sept. 12), I have to say sometimes it takes deplorable to recognize deplorable. Or as my dad used to say, “Sometimes the truth hurts.”

And, isn’t it funny that when I saw the same cartoon as Mr. Flautt, I immediately emailed a copy of it to my friends because I felt it so precisely depicted what so-called Christians or Evangelicals have done that I had to share it?

It is deplorable, Mr. Flautt, that people like you who are so proud of your religious beliefs choose to support a man who doesn’t have a moral bone in his body. Much like your feared devil.

Unfortunately for you, Mr. Flautt, The Durango Herald doesn’t need your moral, religious or ethical approval/permission to publish a political “cartoon.” It also doesn’t have to explain to you what it was trying to “portray or persuade” any given reader to believe or not.

Unlike people who live their lives in the mythological world of religious belief, the rest of Herald readers realize our Founders knew exactly what they were doing when they guaranteed us free speech and free press.

And finally, Mr. Flautt, regarding respect for the president, a draft-dodging liar who cheated his way into office by conspiring with the enemy does not deserve respect.
