Cardinals’ castaway Behanan will transfer to CSU
FORT COLLINS – Forward Chane Behanan, a key member of Louisville’s national championship squad who was dismissed from the team last month for a violation of university policy, has enrolled at Colorado State and will play for the Rams next season.
Before being dismissed, Behanan averaged 8.3 points, 6.2 rebounds and shot 67 percent from the field in 11 games this season for the Cardinals.
Louisville head coach Rick Pitino did not specify last month what rule was broken but expressed disappointment that the 6-6 forward had another setback just a month after being reinstated from a 26-day suspension for violating school policy.
Behanan will be eligible to play for the Rams after the end of the fall term next December.

Olympics
NHL won’t commit to the Olympics beyond Sochi
The NHL has not decided whether to let its players participate in the Olympics beyond this year, casting doubt on who will be competing for hockey gold in four years.
With the league set to push pause on its season for next month’s Sochi Olympics, Deputy Commissioner Bill Daly also is allowing for the possibility of a security issue that could keep the players from traveling to Russia at all.
Russian security has been looking for three potential female suicide bombers, one of whom is believed to be in Sochi. The country has assembled what is believed to be the biggest security operation ever for an Olympics with more than 50,000 police and soldiers.
Surgery in a sanitorium will keep Reichelt from Sochi
SCHLADMING, Austria – Hannes Reichelt was ruled out of the Olympics because of a back injury, leaving the Austrian Alpine speed team without its main medal hope in Sochi.
The Austrian ski federation said Monday that Reichelt had to undergo surgery in a sanatorium in Innsbruck for a herniated disk, only two days after winning a World Cup downhill in Kitzbuehel, and therefore he has to end his season prematurely.
The 33-year-old Reichelt had been complaining about persistent back problems for weeks.
