Christmas break comes on the heels of a two-game losing streak.
The Durango High School girls basketball team dropped its second game of the Palisade Rotary Invitational 42-39 to Cheyenne South High School (Cheyenne, Wyo.) on Saturday morning in Palisade.
DHS (2-4) has played all of its recent games without a handful of varsity starers out because of illness or ineligibility.
Cheyenne South (3-4) won its third consecutive game, all against schools from within Colorado.
DHS, off for the holidays, next will play at Kirtland Central on Jan. 7 in Kirtland, N.M.
