San Juan Regional Medical Center thanks state lawmakers for investing in the health and wellbeing of the community through Capital Outlay Funds approved in 2019.
Through the 2019 Capital Outlay Funds, San Juan Regional Medical Center received $1.9 million for improvements to Women’s Services and $1.4 million for mechanical infrastructure improvements .
The design phase is currently underway to modernize Women’s Services provided by San Juan Regional Medical Center. Planned improvements will include a new Childbirth Center entrance, renovations to all labor and delivery rooms, an additional lactation room and a new staff break room to improve privacy for patients and improve workflow for caregivers and improvements to the special care nursery to provide more private, individualized spaces for infants and more documentation room for nurses. The renovations are planned for late spring or early summer.
The $1.4 million for mechanical infrastructure improvements include a central utility plant chiller replacement which will be completed in May; a cooling tower replacement which is set to arrive at the end of February; and domestic hot water system upgrades, which are currently in the design and engineering phase. These infrastructure improvements will result in improved patient and family comfort, lower energy and water use and lower annual operating expenses.
