Heart Safe La Plata has donated an automated external defibrillator to the Bayfield Parks and Recreation Department to be kept in the concession stand at Joe Stephenson Park.
"It is important that parents and coaches be aware of its location in the event that it is needed," Heart Safe volunteers said. "The speed with which an AED is deployed can make a life and death difference. With any cardiac emergency minutes count."
