Head Start programs accepting enrollment
Southern Ute Montessori Head Start and Early Head Start are currently enrolling children for the 2014-15 school year.
The programs serve children 3 to 5 years old and children 6 weeks to 3 years old, including children with special needs.
The programs are free of charge, regardless of income, for all qualifying families. All ethnicities are welcome.
Qualifying families must live within the exterior boundaries of the Southern Ute Indian Tribe Reservation and the Ignacio School District, or within this section of Bayfield: south of U.S. Highway 160 between County Road 509 and County Road 526/523.

Infant, toddler trainer position available
The Early Childhood Council of La Plata County is soliciting applications to join the Expanding Quality in Infant Toddler Care Training Team.
The 70-hour Training of Trainers Intensives, provided by the Colorado Department of Education in Denver, prepares people to teach the Expanding Quality in Infant Toddler course in their community. Applicants must have completed the 48-hour Expanding Quality in Infant Toddler Training.

Gateway offers second chance for diploma
Students who have dropped out of school and are between the ages of 17 and 20 have a second chance to earn a high school diploma.
The Gateway to College program based at Southwest Colorado Community College gives students the chance to get back on track toward earning a diploma and college credits simultaneously.
The next information session for the fall semester will be at 6 p.m. today in room 105 of the Commons Building, 701 Camino del Rio.

Virtual public school to be explained
A free information session for Durango families to learn more about how virtual public school works will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at Durango Public Library, 1900 East Third Ave.
This information session is hosted by Colorado Connections Academy. The academy offers an individualized approach to learning combined with certified teachers, an award-winning curriculum, technology tools and socialization opportunities. Because it is a public school, there are no costs for tuition or fees to attend.
