50 years ago: CORTEZ – “All of the pupils of the Lewis elementary school, closed on orders of the state industrial commission, will be bussed to Cortez schools starting Monday morning.”
25 years ago: “The Colorado Public Utilities Commission has approved an increase in ticket prices for the Durango & Silverton Narrow Gauge Railroad, effective this month. The 15 percent increase will raise the cost of the 90-mile round trip from $32.30 to $37.15 for adults and from $16.25 to $18.65 for children ages 5 to 11.”
