Kiwanis Club to meet Thursday

The Kiwanis Club will welcome Mariel Balbuena from the Family Center at noon Thursday at the Durango Community Recreation Center, 2700 Main Ave.

Mariel will discuss several of their programs in early childhood development. Guests are welcome.

Airstream fundraiser supports open space

La Plata Open Space Conservancy is selling a 1997 34-foot Airstream Excella 1000 as a fundraising event.

Proceeds will go toward protecting more open space.

To tour the Airstream and learn more about the conservancy, visit the 2016 Home & Ranch Show from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the La Plata County Fairgrounds, 2500 Main Ave.

Cochlear ear implant support group forming

A support group is forming for Cochlear Ear implant recipients and potential recipients.

The formation meeting will take place at 2 p.m. Sunday. The informal meeting will be in the form of a barbecue in the backyard of Jim Duresky, 2100 Oak Drive. Burgers and brats will be served, and participants should bring a salad or desert and beverages.

April Luxner, the Cochlear Ear representative from Denver, will address the group about the history of Cochlear Ear Implants and the use of accessories.

Mt. Allison Grange to celebrate birthday

Mt. Allison Grange will host a celebration commemorating its 100th birthday on April 29.

Dinner will be catered by Double C Grill and Treats including chicken marsala, garlic mashed potatoes, vegetables, salad and rolls. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m., with the program, “The Impact of Mt. Allison Grange in the last 100 Years,” starting at 7 p.m. Tickets can purchased for $5 prior to Wednesday. After that, tickets will be $10.
