All aboard! Tickets on sale for Durango Blues Train

The Durango Blues Train will return May 29 and 30. Musical guests will include: Dan Treanor’s Afrosippi Band with Erica Brown and MJ; Dragondeer; Mark “Porkchop” Holder; A.J. Fullerton featuring Big John Shrader; Cary Morin; and Grant Sabin.

St. Mark’s Recital series continues Feb. 13

The St. Mark’s Recital series will continue at 7 p.m. Feb. 13 with violist Danny DeSantis and Friends. The concert, the third of the 2014-2015 series, will feature DeSantis performing with violinist Kay Newnam, pianists Kristen Chen and Linda Mack Berven and cellist Katherine Jetter. The concert will feature music by Telemann, Beethoven and Bloch.

Tickets, $15 for adults and $5 for students and children, are available at DurangoRecitals.com, by calling (800) 838-3006 and at the door. Patrons are invited to a reception hosted by Third Avenue Arts after the recital to meet the artists.

DeSantis has been a member of the San Juan Symphony for 14 years. Before that he performed in the Phoenix; New Mexico; Wilmington, Delaware; and Allentown, Pennsylvania, symphonies. He has studied with many teachers, including Paul Zukofsky, Leonard Mogill, and Peter Rosato.

Fort Lewis to present ‘Men Are From Mars’

“Men Are From Mars – Women Are From Venus – LIVE!” will be presented at 7:30 p.m. April 14 at the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College. The theatrical comedy stars Peter Story, who has appeared in prime-time shows on all three major networks. The light-hearted theatrical comedy is based on the New York Times No. 1 best-selling book of the last decade by John Gray.

Art history lecture series continues Thursday

A is for Art. B is for Bernini, an art history lecture series with Judith Reynolds, “Picasso: Reinventing Western Art,” will take place from 3 to 4:30 p.m. Thursday at the Durango Arts Center, 802 East Second Ave.

Music in the Mountains jazz series returns

Music in the Mountains is relaunching its “A Bite of Jazz” series this spring in Durango. The next concert in the series will be held at 6:15 p.m. Feb. 19 at St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, 910 East Third Ave. The concert will feature the Mac Jazz Trio performing a romantic program. Taj Mahal cancels his March concert date at FLC

Because of a family scheduling conflict, Taj Mahal canceled his March 19 performance at the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College.

The Community Concert Hall will contact patrons with tickets to refund or exchange tickets for another Community Concert Hall-produced show. For more information, call the ticket office at 247-7657, or visit the Durango Welcome Center at Eighth Street and Main Avenue.
