If there were any lingering doubts as to the leftist leaning of The Durango Herald, reprinting Michelle Goldberg’s column (“The pragmatic left, socialists included, is winning,” Aug. 13) puts them to rest. The self-described elitist’s brainwashing of America is almost complete. The school system has, with few exceptions, dutifully omitted the historical truths of how and why this nation was founded.
All one has to do is actually look at socialist-run countries to see why progressivism, socialism and/or communism is a lie. It is an anathema to what this nation was founded on; liberty, individualism, success, freedom to worship God. It is nothing more than the attempt of self-aggrandizing, self-appointed “intellectual elites” to denude the individual of his personal traits, success, liberty, individual ability and literally his personhood for the “collective” or, as some in the fiction business call it, “the greater good.”
Really? For whom? Life, liberty, private property rights, individualism and the pursuit of happiness are an unacceptable thorn in the foot of the socialist. The word liberal cannot be used here. Its original definition was “the free exchange of ideas.” See the 10 planks of the Communist Manifesto. All 10 have been completed, or are nearing completion. Karl Marx would be proud of his protégés. But we’ll carefully ignore the millions of people who’ve been murdered in the name of so-called progressivism.
