50 years ago: A Durango woman was charged with involuntary manslaughter and sentenced by District Judge James M. Noland to 30 days in the county jail and two years’ probation, after she caused the death of a Pagosa Springs man April 16, 1967, while driving intoxicated.
25 years ago: Writer and naturalist Terry Tempest Williams anchored an installment of the Durango Literature Series ’92, titled “Voices from the West,” at Fort Lewis College. Grizzly bear advocate Doug Peacock and nature writer David Peterson also gave presentations.
