FLC student band will perform Monday

The Fort Lewis College concert band and jazz ensemble will present the fall band concert, “Geographies” at 7 p.m. Monday at the Community Concert Hall at Fort Lewis College, 1000 Rim Drive.

The program will feature music from different geographic areas. It will start with a British military band march, “The Mad Major,” by Kenneth Alford, and continue across Europe with the Italian piece “Funiculi, Funicula.”

It will then come back to the U.S. with Travis Cross’ “Tribute,” James Barnes’ “Trail of Tears,” Brant Karrick’s “Bayou Breakdown” and David Holsinger’s “Prairie Dances.” The jazz ensemble will also perform a variety of jazz tunes.

Durango Nursery seeking Harvest art

Durango Nursery and Supply, 271 Kacee Lane, invites artists to display nature or plant-related art at the nursery’s Harvest Festival on Oct. 25.

The Harvest Festival will feature events, food and an art walk at the nursery. Metal art, ceramics, painting, textiles or other mediums are welcome. All proceeds from any sales of art will go to the artists.

Film series to bring ‘1,000 Times’ to ACT

The New York Film Critic Series will bring a screening of “A Thousand Times Goodnight” to the Animas City Theatre, 128 E. College Drive, at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

The film, which stars Nikolaj Coster-Waldau and Juliette Binoche, tells the story of a war photographer who is forced to choose between her work or her family.

The film will be accompanied by behind-the-scenes features and a question-and-answer period with Rolling Stone film critic Peter Travers.

Evening of the Dead drop-off is Wednesday

Artists who want to take part in the Evening of the Dead exhibit can drop off their work between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. Wednesday at Studio &, 1027 Main Ave.

All work should be delivered to the studio ready to hang. It will cost $20 to enter one piece and $30 to enter up to three. The show will open with a reception from 5 from 9 p.m. Oct. 24. Visit www.anddurango.com.
