Nature Studies announces programs
Durango Nature Studies will host these programs:
A Community Appreciation Day will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Nature Center. Volunteer work will take place from 10 a.m. to noon. People who wish to volunteer should bring gloves. From noon to 3 p.m. there will be a picnic, free beer from Ska Brewing Co., games, activities and naturalist-led hikes. The Volunteer of the Year will be honored at 1 p.m.

‘DamNation’ to be screened Oct. 23
“DamNation” will be shown at 5 p.m. Oct. 23 at the Smiley Building, 1309 East Third Ave.
This documentary showcases the importance – economically, ecologically, recreationally and soulfully – of vibrant, healthy rivers,
“DamNation” director, Ben Knight, will be on hand with local resource managers and experts to discuss water issues affecting the region and what people can do to affect positive, lasting change.
There will be free food, libations and an auction. Tickets are $12 in advance at Maria’s Bookshop and the Fort Lewis College Environmental Center or $15 at the door.
