50 years ago: “The state-supported institution that has grown from Indian school to senior liberal arts college is now officially Fort Lewis College. The name change is effective today and was made possible by legislative action at the last session of the Colorado General Assembly and the signature of Gov. John A. Love.”

25 years ago: “The Rocky Mountain Jamboree, a country-western summer stage show at the Kiva Theatre in downtown Durango, will not reopen this summer after losing more than a quarter-million dollars in two years, according to owner Bob Bell.”
