San Juan Mountain Association has announced the opening of its self-guided nature trail at Purgatory Resort.
The route provides mountain views and wildflowers on the 1.7 mile loop that follows the Brush Rake Mountain Bike trail. Pick up a brochure in the ticket office or at the trailhead.
Drive to the top of Chairlift 4 by turning right on Hermosa Park Road when approaching the main parking lot at Purgatory. Follow the signs toward Elbert Creek Road. Turn left and follow it to Lift 4. Drive past the lift to the red self-guided nature hike sign at the beginning of the Brush Rake mountain bike trail or park by Lift 4 and walk.
