Foundation thankful for successful concert series

The Community Foundation serving Southwest Colorado extends an enthusiastic thank you to everyone who helped make the Community Concerts Series in the Secret Garden a tremendous success. In its third year, the series raised $1,500, plus a $200 bonus, for each nonprofit.

Special thanks to: Rochester Hotel staff for the lovely venue and hard work; corporate sponsors Tito’s Handmade Vodka, Bank of the San Juans and Parady Financial for the support; Maria’s Bookshop for the bookmarks, punch-passes and bookend displays; selected nonprofits Durango Nature Studies, La Plata Open Space Conservancy, Know Your Dough, Garden Project of Southwest Colorado, Stillwater Music, Durango High School Troupe 1096, San Juan Symphony, Durango Adult Education Center, Lisa Parker’s Puppies and Compañeros Four Corners Immigrant Resource Center for collaborating to promote the series and generate attendance; musical artists Jeff Solon Jazz Trio, Better Knot, The Badly Bent, Dustin Burley, The Assortment, Lawn Chair Kings, Hello, Dollface, Black Velvet, Pete Giuliani Band and Six Dollar String Band; and 550 Farms for providing food all summer.

We look forward to another great season next year.

Gomez, Lopez family thanks supporters in time of grief

We express our sincere thanks and gratitude to all our friends, family and all the people in the community for all their help and kindness, and for being there for us during our time of grief when our Christine Gomez went home to be with her heavenly father.

Local Boys & Girls Club grateful for ‘Day for Kids’

As part of its 10-year anniversary celebration, The Boys & Girls Club of La Plata County board of directors extends its sincere appreciation to First National Bank of Durango for sponsoring the “Day for Kids” party for kids and their families enrolled in the club and those interested in club programs. Thank you also to Atmos Energy team 2750 for the family barbecue picnic, Coca-Cola for the beverages, Community Foundation serving Southwest Colorado for the bubbles and Applebees for the kids-eat-free bracelets, all featured at the “Day for Kids” event. Eppich Photography captured the event, which included activities for kids and parent information by Pat Senecal and Lauren Patterson of Celebrating Healthy Communities Coalition.

The anniversary is richer, thanks to Boys & Girls Club of La Plata County kids, parents, staff, investors and volunteers.
