Thank you so much for publishing, on the front page, the stories of the two brave souls who battled with suicide (Herald, Sept. 29).
As a writer and mental health practitioner, I know the power of story matters at a fundamental level. At a community level, the role of the Herald in removing the stigma and shame attached to talking about suicide and our lowest emotional places is crucial.
As the Four Corners representative for the National Association of Social Workers, Colorado Chapter, and as a community member, I am grateful and pleased.
May we as a community carry forth and find safe places to tell those stories, and welcome our hearts, in all their complexity, back into the fold.
