I just read that La Plata Electric Association was a leader in obtaining a settlement with its power supplier Tri-State Generation & Transmission for a rate reduction of 4% over the next two years. I understand that LPEA will be passing the first 2% rate reduction on to the members in a bill credit.
This is good news and I am grateful to the LPEA staff and board as we all struggle to pay bills during the pandemic and can use this bill credit. I have been told that some candidates for the upcoming board election have been critical of the LPEA board for spending funds to challenge Tri-State's rates, but I want to thank the current board for their efforts that have resulted in lowering my electric bill.
I strongly encourage members to vote for Tim Wheeler in District 4 as I know he has been working very hard on behalf of LPEA members to get us more affordable rates from Tri-State, and his efforts have paid off.
