City manager runs right over Durango

Vote for Marcos Wisner. We need a diverse City Council.

It’s not about who has spent the most time on committees or in public meetings. It’s about having a citizen that is familiar with the challenges of living and working in Durango and willing to commit the time.

Over the last 25 or so years, we’ve had the omnipresent developers, Realtors and retirees on council. They have proven to be a rubber-stamp council. Our current council acts like a marketing firm for the city manager’s office. We need a council that asks tough questions and are critical thinkers – especially in regards to the city manager.

The candidates allude to solving homelessness or global warming or affordable housing. These talking points are tired and frankly not the job of City Council. We are a small town with a big budget and the budget needs more oversight and planning.

Marcos Wisner will bring needed change and a fresh outlook. The other spot should be filled with John Simpson. He is a citizen who is not afraid to call out city hall on their recent shenanigans. Even though he isn’t running, I am writing in Simpson. I urge all who are sick and tired of the city manager running roughshod over the town to do the same.

Vote Marcos Wisner and John Simpson for City Council.
