100 years ago: “The City Council authorized the city purchasing agent to make suitable provision for the conveyance of Milk Inspector Hobby to and from the dairies that require inspection under the new ordinance.”
75 years ago: “Kindergartners, little folk in the class of Mrs. J. G. Mair and Mrs. A. J. Weinig, bade goodbye to another happy school term when they participated with several small guests in a jolly picnic held on the lawn of the Weinig home. Games and a delicious picnic lunch were provided.”
50 years ago: “Old 476 will steam into Durango, pulling six new narrow gauge coaches and three old ones from Alamosa. Old 476, gone from Durango for the past two seasons, is probably the most photographed piece of equipment owned by the Denver and Rio Grande Western railroad. The little engine has spent the past two years in a process of being rebuilt.”
25 years ago: “Bayfield High School graduating seniors may have started a new tradition by taking the most important school tradition outdoors. Forty-eight Bayfield seniors graduated under brilliant blue skies during ceremonies held on the high school athletic field for the first time in school history.”
