CDOT rockfall mitigation announced

The Colorado Department of Transportation will work on two rockfall-maintenance projects in Archuleta and La Plata Counties during the next two weeks.

Beginning Monday and continuing through the end of the week, crews will work on U.S. Highway 160 between Bayfield and Pagosa Springs. The specific area is just east of Yellow Jacket Pass, at milepost 116. Motorists are urged to use caution and watch for maintenance crews and warning signs.

Crews also will work Aug. 1 to Aug. 2 on an area just south of Durango on Colorado Highway 3. Traffic on Highway 3 will encounter some temporary closures periodically during the course of the project. Electronic signs will advise motorists of traffic stops and delays.

To sign up to receive project information and lane closure updates on state highways in the area of your choice, visit CDOT’s website at www.codot.gov and choose the envelope icon at the bottom of the page. Or, to see CDOT’s lane closure reports for projects statewide, visit www.codot.gov/travel/scheduled-lane-closures.html.

The cook-off dinner includes locally raised meat, beans, potatoes, freshly baked bread, a dessert, and a drink for $20. All foods will be prepared over an open fire with ingredients that were used in the late 1800s.
