Zucchini Extravaganza returns to Bayfield

No pumpkins allowed

Pine River Community Garden Club will hold the third annual Zucchini Extravaganza from noon to 3 p.m. Sept. 10 at Pine River Library, 395 Bayfield Center Drive.

Attendees are encouraged to bring recipes and a zucchini or squash dish to share, but no pumpkins are allowed.

“They get their own holiday, and we’re focusing on the less-popular squash,” said Darcy Poletti Harp, Pine River librarian. The event will feature zucchini, crooked neck, butternut, acorn and other squash varieties.

Free food from Baked, a cooking demo, free samples from Strater Hotel’s Chef Safari, live music by Agave, activities for children, a raffle and contests, including ugliest, largest and best-dressed zucchini, will also be included.

The event is free and open to all.

Nonperishable food items can be donated during the festival to the Pine River Shares food drive.
