Officials to take oath of office

Greg Lyman, district judge for the 6th Judicial District, swears in Tiffany Lee Parker as county clerk and recorder in 2011. Parker again will take the oath Tuesday at the La Plata County Courthouse.

The newly elected La Plata County officials will take an oath of office at 8:30 a.m. Tuesday at the La Plata County Courthouse, 1060 East Second Ave.

Two new officials will be sworn in – sheriff-elect Sean Smith, county commissioner-elect Brad Blake and La Plata County Treasurer Allison Morrissey. Re-elected County Assessor Craig Larson, La Plata County Clerk & Recorder Tiffany Lee Parker and La Plata County Surveyor Larry Connolly will also be sworn in. La Plata County Coroner Jann Smith will also take the oath.

The ceremony will be held in an upstairs courtroom at the courthouse.

Jeffrey Wilson, district judge for the 6th Judicial District, will administer the oaths of office.

Immediately after the ceremony, county commissioners will host a reception for the newly elected officials in the commissioner’s meeting room before their 10 a.m. business meeting.

The public is invited and encouraged to attend both the ceremony and the reception.
