Pine River Library to present World War II story

A presentation about a U.S. ship’s escape during World War II will be held from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 7, at Pine River Library, 395 Bayfield Center Drive, in Bayfield.

Tim Deal, retired U.S. Coast Guard commander, will tell the story of Lt. Cmdr. John H. Morrill and his crew on the USS Quail and how they escaped from Manila Bay, Philippines, on May 6, 1942.

A copy of the book, South from Corregidor, signed by the last living survivor of the escape, will be given away.
