Taxes should be put to beneficial ends

A few months back, Republicans were ceaseless in their hounding of Hillary Clinton for her use of a private email server, even though it was found she did not break any laws. Now, Republicans are indifferent to the fact that the Russians have influenced our election.

I, for one, would like to earmark my taxes to be spent on a special prosecutor to investigate just what kind of influence Russia had on our elections and how the Trump people were colluding with the Russians prior to and after the election. How about Secretary of State oilman Rex Tillerson back slapping with oily Putin? I don’t want my taxes spent on suing my government because “so-called” President Donald Trump doesn’t like the way the rule of law applies to his dysfunctional view.

I don’t want my taxes to pay a person that has known ties to white supremist groups. That’s un-American.

I don’t want my taxes to pay a woman who mouths on about Ivankas’ line of jewelry, an ethics violation, and then spews out some baloney about alternative facts. Alternative facts are lies, not facts.

I don’t want my taxes paying for mendacity.

I don’t want my taxes paying for someone who hates the EPA and wants to dismantle it. Because, in truth, the Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act are what is great about America.

I don’t want my taxes to go to someone who is going to strip health care from millions of hard working citizens. Health insurance for all is what makes America great.

I don’t want my taxes going to a billionaire who has no regard for our education system. Smart kids and public schools are what make America great.

I appreciate that my taxes go to keeping our public lands in public hands. People all over the country and world visit them and spend money here. They think that is what is great about America.

Truth, justice and equal protection under the law is what makes America Great. The Republicans would do well to heed those principles.
