In reference to Josh Joswick’s letter (Herald, Oct. 28): Shame on Joswick for the letter condemning Lyle McKnight, stating he has never given back to his community.
Over our more than 23 years in business owning Fun Center Powersports, we have donated to anyone in need walking through our doors. Lyle and I sponsored Toys for Tots for 10 years, holding the annual Toy Run and charity event at our dealership. Any child or youth who had a fundraiser needing products or money for a Halloween carnival, school sport, parks and rec, rodeo, 4-H, beauty pageant, school clubs, Boy Scouts, Girl Scouts, private schools or just needed an extra $20 for school supplies, Lyle and I were there.
Lyle sponsored his own local race team for our youth to belong, donating motorcycles, gear, helmets, parts, labor and rewarding them for their efforts. Lyle gave our youth a chance to be part of our team regardless of whether the family was financially able. His leadership built a responsible, goal-driven, honest, dedicated and hard-working group of youth. The team had to perform in school as well as demonstrate good character values.
Lyle and I do not give for public recognition or so we can be part of the Who’s Who in society. We prided ourselves with over-hiring the youth and developing them into skilled workers. We taught honesty, fairness, hard work and compassion among our staff. The support we proudly offer to the community is overwhelming. Please ask anyone who knows Lyle and me or has been on the receiving end of our generosity.
I am very saddened by this hurtful letter. Once again, this is nothing more than another lie trying to discredit Lyle’s good name.
