The nonpartisan Durango chapter of the Citizens’ Climate Lobby has awarded scholarships to two Fort Lewis College students.
Amber Barbella and Siarrah Gomez-Boyiddle will be attending the CCL national conference and lobby day (June 9-11) in Washington, D.C.
The money for the scholarships was raised from the “Wild and Scenic Film Festival” presented in February as well as individual donations.
The conference will feature a keynote speaker Katherine Hayhoe, other experts on climate, communication skills, legislation and more. The students will join lobbying teams on Capitol Hill to meet with members of Congress and their staff to advocate for the bipartisan supported Energy Innovation and Carbon Dividend Act (H.R. 763).
