Animas Valley Grange and Mountain Studies Institute to present water program

Animas Valley Grange and Mountain Studies Institute will co-host the program “Wade in the Water” at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, June 19, at Grange Hall, 7271 County Road 203.

The program will feature a field trip to a site along Hermosa Creek. Participants will collect and identify aquatic insects, measure dissolved oxygen and turbidity, and learn what these mean for water quality.

The outing will be led by MSI team members Jeremy May and Colleen Magee-Uhlik. Children are welcome and must be accompanied by an adult. Participants should bring a water bottle, sun screen, hat and water shoes.

Space is limited. Because of limited parking space at the site, participants will carpool from the grange. The anticipated time frame is 2.5 hours.
