Best bets this weekend include the Cortez Literary Festival and Chasing the Moon Day.

Cortez Public Library will host its first literary festival this weekend, with keynote speaker Anne Hillerman from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and a full day of workshops and activities from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday at the library, 202 N. Park St. After Hillerman’s keynote address, the author will hold a book-signing, as well as provide a workshop Saturday morning.

Joining Hillerman will be 30 regional authors, poets, storytellers and artists, who will conduct workshops and participate as vendors. Ten mini-workshops about a variety of writing and literary topics will be interspersed with activities for kids, such as face painting, singing and crafts. Sweetwater Gypsies Wood-fired Pizza and The Farm Bistro will also be on-site with food and snacks.
