‘Masterpieces’ show to open Thursday

The Center of Southwest Studies will continue its 50th anniversary celebration this week with the art exhibit “Masterpieces of the Durango Collection: Native Blankets from the Early American Southwest.”

The exhibit will open with a reception from 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the CSWS Museum, 1000 Rim Drive.

The show, which just spent a year in Santa Fe, features significant Pueblo and Navajo textiles. Visit swcenter.fortlewis.edu for more information.

Evening of the Dead show coming up

Studio & invites local artists to participate in its annual Evening of the Dead show, which will open Oct. 24.

Artists are invited to participate with their own types of storytelling – be it visual, three-dimensional or musical. Work can be dropped off Oct. 22 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Studio &, 1027 Main Ave. All work should be delivered to Studio & ready to hang. The entry fee is $20 for one piece and $30 for up to three.
