The La Plata County Humane Society announced LPCHS volunteer Cathy Roberts as the recipient of the 2018 Animal Advocate of the Year. The award was given at the Bark and Wine event, held at Fort Lewis College on Nov. 10.

Roberts is a longtime LPCHS volunteer and former board member. She created the La Plata County Lost and Found pets page on Facebook and updates the page consistently to safely reunite pets with their families. Along with managing the lost and found page, Cathy co manages the LPCHS Facebook page and actively takes adoptable dogs downtown on Adopt Patrol.

When she is not advocating for the homeless pets, you can find her walking up and down Main Street as a Downtown Ambassador.
