City of Durango announces Fourth of July schedule of events

Residents and visitors are invited to celebrate the Fourth of July holiday with a series of events Sunday in Durango:

  • 8 to 11:30 a.m., All-American Gourmet Breakfast hosted by Rotary Club of Durango, Rotary Park. For pre-sale tickets, call 749-3295 or 946-4856, or visit www.DurangoRotary.org.
  • 9:15 to 10:30 a.m., Free Concert in the Park, Rotary Park. Southwest Civic Winds Concert Band and Jazz Orchestra and Durango Choral Society.
  • Noon to 4:30 p.m., annual Fourth of July picnic, Buckley Park. Hosted by Durango Party Rental to benefit Building Homes for Heroes. Food and beer by Ska Brewing Co. and Steamworks Brewing Co. Live entertainment with The Badly Bent and Kirk James.
  • 5 to 9:30 p.m., Fourth of July Street Dance, Transit Center Parking lot. Ska Brewing beer garden, kids’ activities, food from Grassburger and Mariana’s Authentic Cuisine. Live entertainment with Stillhouse Junkies and DJ Calvin.

The fireworks display has been canceled because of dry conditions and fire danger. There will also be no parade or Fun Run because of COVID-19 restrictions that were in place at the time of event planning.

The Transit Center parking lot will be closed July 3 and July 4.
