Letters: Restrict mountain biking to paved roads

I would like to thank William Lieb for his excellent letter opposing mountain biking (“

But he didn’t go far enough.

Mountain biking is totally incompatible with hiking, horseback riding, wildlife conservation and even the health of mountain bikers themselves.

Permitting mountain biking was a big mistake.

There is no good reason to allow bicycles on any unpaved trail.

Mountain biking needs to be restricted to paved roads, where it can’t do much harm.

Mountain bikers claim that road biking is dangerous, but they have amply proven that mountain biking on trails is equally dangerous.

So address the real problem: the motor vehicle.
