A juvenile reported missing June 11 has been found safe, according to a Cortez Police Department Facebook post Friday afternoon.
“Sydney Ski Mutte has been found safe and sound and is currently with family and friends in Arizona,” the post says. “We want to thank everyone for all the support and overwhelming shares of this post. It’s definitely great news.”
She was found Wednesday in Durango, and had previously been spotted in Cortez June 14.
Durango Chief Deputy Brice Current said she was found along the Animas River. He said the case remains under investigation, and no more details were available.
Mutte was reported missing from her home in Many Farms, Arizona, according to a missing person’s report posted Monday on the Cortez Police Department’s Facebook page.
Assistant Police Chief Andy Brock of Cortez reported that people looking for her notified Cortez Police Officer Karla Jones that Mutte had been found in Durango and is safe.
She is back home in Arizona.
Cortez police assisted officers in Chinle, Arizona, with the investigation.
On June 14, Mutte was seen in Cortez at Denny Lake Park, on the east side of town. She possibly was with a male. She was last seen wearing a black hoodie, black T-shirt, blue jeans with holes and black tennis shoes.
Brock said an officer believed he had seen her at the Cortez skate park in Parque de Vida before she was reported missing.
