Durango Fire

Firefighters and medics responded to 16 calls, including a fire alarm on Tenderfoot Court, a gas odor in the 1500 block of U.S. Highway 550 and a single tree on fire in the 2100 block of La Posta Road (County Road 213).

7:14 a.m. Someone found suspicious items placed on the steps of St. Columba School near 18th Street and East Third Avenue.

9:57 a.m. Ten people were chanting on the Animas River Trail behind Albertsons, 311 W. College Drive. Police made at least one arrest for a warrant.

10:08 a.m. A woman wanted to talk to police about texting and driving laws in the city of Durango.

1:09 p.m. Someone reported an aggressive bear in the 3200 block of West Seventh Avenue.

4:36 p.m. Two women reported a puppy was left inside a blue Ford truck at Mercy Regional Medical Center. One of the women broke a window to get to the puppy out. Animal Control determined the puppy wasn’t in distress, so police issued a citation to the woman for trespassing.
