City of Durango seeks public input on allowing more multiplexes

The city of Durango has posted a survey and will host a virtual meeting from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday to gather residents’ input about allowing multiplexes in more areas of Durango.

Multiplexes look like single-family homes but contain three to five apartments. The city is proposing expanding where the structures are allowed as a way of providing more affordable housing.

Multiplexes are currently allowed in multifamily zones and in mixed use zones. The city is studying the possibility of allowing multiplexes in established neighborhood zones.
