Merely Players tickets on sale
Following this year’s successful productions of “Mary Poppins” and “Much Ado About Nothing,” Merely Players is now selling tickets for their 2015-16 season.
The show lineup includes Sarah Ruhl’s comedy “Dead Man’s Cell Phone,” Christopher Durango’s award-winning “Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike,” and “Shrek: The Musical,” the annual youth-adult stage production. Tickets, passes and ticket packages are available online at www.merelyplayers.us.

Sorrel Sky Gallery announces events
Sorrel Sky Gallery, 828 Main Ave., will host these events:
The show and fundraising event, “Healing Art: Inspiration from a Priest and Five Physicians,” will open from 5 to 7 p.m. Oct. 1. Featuring more than 25 original works, the show includes paintings by Fr. Kevin Novack, pastels by Dr. Don Cook and photographs by Dr. Charles Black, Dr. Kim Furry, Dr. Martin Pirnat and Dr. Ron Ritz. A reception for the artists will be held at 5:30 p.m. in the upper-level galleries. The show will continue through Oct. 15. Organized by Mercy Health Foundation, the art show highlights the important role that the arts and creative expression play in healing the body, mind and spirit. The Foundation supports patients and families in need of care at Mercy Regional Medical Center by raising money for equipment, programs and services including hospice and charity care. Proceeds from the show will support major advancements in cancer treatment and patient care at the Durango Cancer Center at Mercy Regional Medical Center.
Native American painter Kevin Red Star’s one-man show opening during the Colorfest Gallery Walk will take place from 5 to 9 p.m. Sept. 18. Red Star, who will be present at the gallery for the opening, will showcase new paintings that capture the culture of the 19th century Northern Plains Indians.
“Western Stories Now and Then: New Work by Duke Beardsley and Greg Kelsey” will open during First Thursday Art Walk on Sept. 3. Kelsey will be present from 5 to 7 p.m. to meet the public. The show features Beardsley’s contemporary, Western, pop-art-influenced oil paintings and Kelsey’s bronze sculptures of traditional Western scenes.
