Best bets this weekend include Carve Wars and iAM Silverton Music Fest.
Carve Wars chainsaw art competition will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday; 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday; and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at Purgatory Resort’s base area.
The traveling chainsaw art competition will feature chainsaw artists from around the country. Throughout the weekend, artists will compete for prizes and awards while carving their pieces. There will also be meet-and-greet opportunities with artists and live demonstrations.
During two live auctions, carvings will be sold to the highest bidder, with a portion of the proceeds going to charity.
This is a free, family-friendly event.

iAM Silverton Music Fest will take place from 4:30 to 9:45 p.m. Friday and 1 to 9:45 p.m. Saturday at Columbine Park, 1239 Blair St., Silverton.
This year’s lineup will include: Tierro Band With Bridget Law, Niceness, Stillhouse Junkies, Elder Grown, Ghost Tapes, High Country Hustle, Katie Haverly, Julian Marcos Hood, Avant Horizon, Dandu, People We Know, Alex Blocker, Ryell Carley, Zembu, Snazzy Licks, (DJ)-Calvin and Cousin Curtis.
After parties will be held both nights of the festival, and admission is included in weekend passes. Day passes require additional ticket purchase for after parties.
Single-day tickets cost $15 to $25 and weekend passes cost $40.
