The Cabin Fever fundraiser for the Pine River Valley Heritage Society Museum on Feb. 27 at the Bayfield Church of Christ was a great success! Joel Racheff of the Bar D Wranglers kept us entertained while folks enjoyed the free chili, potato soup, coffee and lemonade. This year we offered pie slices for $2 and more than 50 pie lovers sampled the variety offered. Ron Dunavant, our society president and auctioneer, sold off the 52 pies and other desserts that were donated by members and friends who love to show off their tasty talents. Ron's humor kept the show lively! Approximately 90 folks showed up in our mild weather, a break from winter yet to come.
We thank everyone who helped to make this a fun and successful fundraiser for the museum.
June 4 will be our seasonal opening date with free ice cream from Lydia's Sweet Treats. Volunteers staff the museum from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays on Mill Street in downtown Bayfield. We close for the season on Saturday after the Bayfield Heritage Days Sheep Trailing. We continue to offer FREE ADMISSION and will do group tours to accommodate other days and hours. We encourage more locals to visit and learn about the history of our valley and the pioneers who settled and founded the town of Bayfield. Come out and support your local museum. We would love to have you volunteer and join our membership. Please call Joanne McCoy 884-9370 for further information.
