Southern Ute Cultural Center and Museum will provide programs about the traditions and meanings of powwows on Friday and Saturday.
The exhibit “Powwow Regalia: Not a Costume Exhibit” will be open at the museum Friday and Saturday.
Visitors can view and learn about powwow regalia, including what regalia items are for and their special meanings. This is a walk-through exhibit with Southern Ute docents to explain and answer questions.
The program “Introduction to the Powwow” will be held at 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Friday and 2 p.m. Saturday.
This is an introduction to the cultural, social and historical aspects of the powwow. It will include an overview of powwow etiquette and a question-and-answer period.
