CDOT announces holiday work schedule at High Bridge project

The Colorado Department of Transportation announces the holiday work schedule for the U.S. Highway 160/550 High Bridge maintenance project.

Work will take place through Sunday, Dec. 22.

During Christmas week no work (or limited work) is expected Monday through Thursday.

Work will resume Friday through Dec. 30.

During New Year’s week no work (or limited work) is expected Dec. 31 through Jan. 2.

Work will resume Jan. 3 and 4.

Much of the construction work will take place on the weekends through the holidays.

The single-lane traffic configuration over the bridge remains in effect day and night. Project completion is anticipated to be mid- to late January.

Wide loads, more than 12 feet, are not permitted through the project limits. Single-lane traffic restrictions at the bridge continue to help construction efforts and maintain safety for crews and drivers.

As traffic narrows to one lane at the work zone, CDOT instructs drivers to use both lanes all the way to the merge point. This traffic pattern, also known as a zipper or late merge, allows for smoother more efficient merging and less stop-and-go traffic.
