On Mondays and Wednesdays, "Jammin' Juniors" returns with songs, stories, and activities for babies and toddlers at the Pine River Library. The program runs from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. every Monday and Wednesday. This program starts again on Wednesday, Jan. 21.
Storytime returns to Pine River Library with crafts, stories, and fun activities. This program starts at 10 a.m. every Thursday and is perfect for toddlers and preschoolers. The first Storytime event will be a "Fire Truck Storytime" with local fire officials reading stories. This event will happen on Thursday, Jan. 22, starting at 10 a.m.
New in 2015: Science Storytimes. Every first Thursday of the month, the library will offer a science-based Storytime as part of the library's monthly "Zap Days." At these events, children receive a free science experiment kit. Children's Services Coordinator, Elizabeth von Tauffkirchen, says the kits are for people of all ages. "Other children, teens, or adults who cannot attend our Science Storytimes will still have an opportunity to take part in our 'Zap Days' and learn about science." On "Zap Days" the science kits will be available for everyone, while supplies last.
 A popular program for older kids is returning, under a new name. "MineBlox" features library laptops set up in the Community Room for kids to play Minecraft, Roblox, or other engineering games. Also, local experts for each game will be on hand to answer questions. The program is open to all school-aged children, up to fifth-graders and happens every Monday afternoon at 3:30 p.m., starting Monday, Jan. 26.
For kids in grades 6-12, the library offers daily activities for teens, starting at 3:30. Teens are invited to participate in the events that feature games, activities and snacks. On Mondays and Fridays, teens can hang out in the "Teen Lounge" where the activities range from gaming to crafting. Tuesdays teens can offer their take on library services as part of the Teen Advisory Committee (TAC). Wednesdays are Wednesday Writers Workshop days for teens with an interest in writing. And Thursdays activity focuses on Tabletop Gaming (versus electronic games).
Also, older teens (high schoolers) are invited to participate in monthly Dungeons and Dragons meets held on the third Saturday of each month.
